My dearest husband-to-be, It's the last day of August. And it is still monsoon season. It rained a bit tonight along with some thunder and lightning. Every time it rains, I think of you. I think it goes back to when I was in High School, my best friend Stacey and I always talked of how we wanted our first kiss in the rain. She went away to BYU Idaho and we officially formed the FKIR {first kiss in rain} club. She succedded in doing so. Me...I am still waiting. And I realize that even though it hardly rains in Arizona, as long as I get one kiss in the rain I think it will be okay. Just know that when it rains I think of you...
Okay….I’m going to vent for a minute here… just to get this off my chest. {You don’t need to read if you don’t want to.} Can someone please explain why some guys can be so shallow… Why do some decide who to date based solely on someone’s outward appearance? {I understand that not all guys are this way…but some are…this is to them} Now, I understand that physical attraction is important. But in my encounters and in talking with friends, I definitely think that you can grow in attraction to someone, the more you get to know them. That is why I believe guys are counseled to ask all sorts of girls out on dates. You really never know who you’ll be attracted too. I know this guy who only dates girls that are like a size 2. Maybe that’s why he is still single. I’m not sure…but I don’t think anyone has a right to judge anyone and deem someone not good enough because of how they look. Because you have NO idea what that person has been through or why they are the way they are. It’s messed up.
Just to clarify....It wasn't anything said or done to me. This fellow obviously is only curios about skinny girls. And I as a voluptuous girl tend to notice that kind of stuff much more than let's say someone who is not overweight. I don't think its something that many pick up on or notice.
It has been a great weekend. Definitely not as crazy as some of the weeks have been before.. I think I like having a break every now and then. Friday, Mom, Dad, and I went to Tylon's first varsity game of the season out at Chandler High School. Although they did not win, I do think they have really improved from past years. Saturday was so nice to sleep in forever, and just be lazy. I went out that night to Amazing Jake's and did some laser tag, mini golf, bumper cars, and a few arcade games. It was fun! Tonight we are having games at my house. Which should also be fun! I'm so looking forward to this coming week and having Friday off {and the Holiday Monday} YAY!
Sophie Fisher: A melody is like seeing someone for the first time. The physical attraction. Sex. Alex Fletcher: I so get that. Sophie Fisher: But then, as you get to know the person, that's the lyrics. Their story. Who they are underneath. It's the combination of the two that makes it magic.
Alex Fletcher: The best time I've had in the last fifteen years was sitting at that piano with you. Sophie Fisher: That's wonderfully sensitive... especially from a man who wears such tight pants. Alex Fletcher: It forces all the blood to my heart. Greg Antonsky: Maybe you want something more commercial. More Pop-y. Alex Fletcher: Just hold that thinly veiled insult on second. Alex Fletcher: It doesn't have to be perfect. Just spit it out. They're just lyrics. Sophie Fisher: "Just lyrics"? Alex Fletcher: Lyrics are important. They're just not as important as melody. Sophie Fisher: I really don't think you get it. Alex Fletcher: Oh. You look angry. Click your pen. Sophie Fisher: A melody is like seeing someone for the first time. The physical attraction. Sex. Alex Fletcher: I so get that. Sophie Fisher: But then, as you get to know the person, that's the lyrics. Their story. Who they are underneath. It's the combination of the two that makes it magical. Alex Fletcher: [Sophie moves a chair] What are you doing, you madwoman, you're wrecking my apartment! Sophie Fisher: Well, I can't write sitting all the way across the room. Alex Fletcher: No, go back to your corner! Sophie Fisher: ...Fine, all right. [goes, leaving the chair where she moved it] Alex Fletcher: I'm blocked. How am I supposed to get out? Sophie Fisher: Go out the other side. Alex Fletcher: But... but... I've never been out the other side. Alex Fletcher: [start of Way Back Into Love Demo Version] Way Back Into Love, take one. Sophie Fisher: I-uh-I'm getting really nervous. Alex Fletcher: You'll be fine, just use your normal, nice voice that I've heard... so much over the last three days. Sophie Fisher: It's like, ugh, my throat's closing up. It's, like, anaphylactic. [cough] Alex Fletcher: It's fine, it's just a three-minute song. Alex Fletcher: [singing] It's never been easy for me / To find words to go along with a melody / But this time there's actually something on my mind / So please forgive these few brief awkward lines / Ever since I met you my life is changed / It's more than just my furniture you've rearranged / I was living in the past / But somehow you've brought me back / And I haven't felt this way / Since before Frankie said "Relax" / And though I know / Based on my track record / I might not seem like the safest bet / All I'm asking you / Is don't write me off just yet / For years I've been telling myself the same old stories / That I was happy to live off my so-called former glories / But you've given me a reason / To take another chance / Now I need you / Despite the fact that you've killed all my plants / And though I know / I've already blown more chances / Than anyone should ever get / All I'm asking you / Is don't write me off just yet.
I have some song lyrics stuck in my head from Jordin Sparks song Papercut and I can't seem to shake it from my mind.
"I wish I was the Tin Man so I wouldn't have a heart to break"
I have no clue why I keep thinking of this line in that song. maybe because I feel that way....A LOT. but yesterday I came to the realization that If I did not have a heart to break I would not have a heart to love. And being in love has got to be one of the best things out there. ...so I will continue to put my heart out there... ...continue to let it break... ...because someday it won't... ...someday it will know {true} love...

{This was last week at the YSA conference. Amanda, Amanda, and Me}
Does anyone else feel that the weekend goes by all too fast?
I feel like the weekdays drag by, the weekends speed by and when I look back to what I did last weekend it feel like it was forever ago. So here is my recap: Friday – Game night. Pizza. Lots of people. Lots of food. A cute boy. It was a good night (for the most part) Saturday - I slept in. LOVED IT! Had a GNO at Natalie’s with Jessica, Sam, Amanda, Suzie, and of course Natalie. (Loved seeing her new house). Oh and the babies were there of course. I love holding those kids! It was a great night and I absolutely love talking to those girls about life and everything going on. Sunday – I love church at noon. It’s so nice to sleep in, once again. There was a musical number at church that really struck a chord with me…
"Look on my heart, dear Lord, I humbly pray; regard me mercifully at close of day. And in my striving, Lord, please find me worthy; look on my heart and see Thy name written there. I am not perfect, Lord; so oft I stray, ladened with mortal cares I lose my way. Yet I shall not forget atoning mercies! Look on my heart and see Thy love reflected there!" - David R. Naylor
And last night ended with game night. It was great. Even more cute boys. What more could you ask for? And every night ended in car talk with Amanda. Love those talks!!!! How was your weekend???
...and have been meaning to post them... but just kept forgetting to do it. So I am doing it now. Here goes: The following I received from Ashley @ {Let Go, Laughing} (I absolutely love her and love her blog...GO check it out!) and the last one is from Camilla (even though I don't understand the rules of this award..i need a translator...I am grateful she chose to share it with me)
I am so grateful to all who read my blog and most of all to those who comment. You guys are awesome and I love your thoughts and the advice you share! THANK YOU!!!!
[shouts] Toulouse-Lautrec: The greatest thing you'll ever learn is just to love and be loved in return.
Christian: It's a little bit funny. Satine: What? Christian: This feeling inside. I'm not one of those who can easily hide. Is this ok? Is this what you want? Satine: Ah, poetry. Yes, this it what I want naughty words. Christian: I don't have much money but boy if I did, I'd buy a big house where we both could live. If I were a sculptor, but then again, no. Or a man who makes potions a traveling show. I know it's not much... Satine: Oh Naughty, don't stop, don't stop. Christian: But it's the best I can do. [sings] Christian: My gift is my song. And this one's for you. And You Can Tell Everybody That this is your song. It may be quite simple but now that it's done. I hope you don't mind I hope You don't mind That I put down in words... How Wonderful Life is Now you're in the world
Satine: Besides, I can't fall in love with anyone Christian: Can't... fall... in love? But, a life without love, that's... terrible... Satine: No, being on the street, that's terrible. Christian: No! Love is like oxygen! Satine: What? Christian: Love is a many splendored thing. Love lifts us up where we belong. All you need is love! Christian: [bursts out into song] The Duke: I don't like this ending... Zidler: Don't like the ending, my dear Duke? The Duke: Why should the courtesan chose the penniless sitar player over the maharajah who is offering her a lifetime of security? That's real love. Once the sitar player has satisfied his lust he will leave her with nothing. I suggest that the courtesan chose the maharajah. Toulouse-Lautrec: But, but tell me, that ending does not uphold the Bohemian ideals of truth, beauty, freedom, and... The Duke: [shouts] I don't care about your ridiculous dogma! Why shouldn't the courtesan chose the maharajah? Christian: [shouts] Because she doesn't love you!... Him... Hi-him, she doesn't love... she doesn't love him. The Duke: Oh, I see... Monsieur Zidler, the play will be rewritten with the courtesan choosing the maharajah and without the lovers' secret song. It will be rehearsed in the morning, ready for the opening tomorrow night... Zidler: But, my dear Duke, that will be quite impossible. Satine: Harold, the Duke is being treated appallingly. These silly writers let their imaginations run away with themselves. Why don't you and I have a little supper, and then we can tell Monsieur Zidler how we would like the story to end. Satine: I don't need you anymore! All my life you made believe I was only worth what someone would pay for me! But Christian loves me. He loves me! He loves me, Harold. And that is worth everything! We're going away from you, away from the Duke, away from the Moulin Rouge! Christian and Satine: Come what may, I will love you until my dying day. Christian: [voiceover and typing] Days turned into weeks, weeks turned into months. And then, one not-so-very special day, I went to my typewriter, I sat down, and I wrote our story. A story about a time, a story about a place, a story about the people. But above all things, a story about love. A love that will live forever. The End. Christian: [voiceover, singing] The greatest thing you'll ever learn is just to love and be loved in return.
The first time I saw this movie I thought whoever made it had to be on drugs. But then I could not stop thinking about it and couldn't stop singing the songs. I fell in love with Ewan McGregor in this movie... during this scene in particular...
Uh Fiona…can you come here for a minute… Umm…remember when we went to Tucson and you hit that bird on the freeway? I kind of thought that was an accident. Mom came home yesterday. She said {once again while you were on the freeway} you hit a rabbit. A. RABBIT. On. The. Freeway. Now I am getting concerned and hoping this is not a hobby of yours.
This weekend was crazy! And it started almost immediately. I met Jessica at the movies to see The Time Traveler’s Wife. I LOVED it!!!! So much better than what I was thinking. It could be confusing but once you understand what’s going on it all makes sense. It was so good. I cannot wait to read the book…{thanks to the lead up of the movie on Micaela’s blog.} The rest of the weekend was a multi-stake YSA activity. Friday was a BBQ and pool party. Saturday morning we had some great classes on dating, finance, and finding joy in the journey. Amanda and I snuck home to take a nap and then get ready for the dance that night. It was fun. I do wish I could dance. {Amanda once you get up and walking we will tear up that dance floor.} The conference ended on Sunday with a great fireside. I was able to meet a lot of new people and be uplifted by the spirit.
Fritz: I owe you an apology. Gray: Just one? Fritz: For ruining the funeral. Gray: Yeah, if it hadn't been for you, that would've been one great day.
Gray: I told them all the great things I know about you and there were a lot. I was up there for a while. I didn't tell them everything, though. I left out the complicated stuff, like how it took losing you forever for me to truly find you. And how finding you turned me into someone else entirely. That's not what they came for. People want to hear you were great. Not that were great, but also, sometimes, not so great. They want to know I miss you. Not that while I've been missing you, I've fallen for someone else. It's weird, though. I feel like the only one who would understand this is you. In a way, that makes sense. He was the one person you were yourself around. Of course he'd be that same person for me. Anyway, I left all that out and I kept it simple. I told them I loved you and that's the truth.
Gray: What's your favorite color? Fritz: Gray. Sam: There falls no shadow where there shines no sun. Gray: I never understood why he was friends with you. You don't even seem like you miss him. Gray: How could you leave me alone with this people? You know how I hate crowds. Gray: I think catch and release fisherman are heartless weenies. I think putting a fish through agony for nothing more than your own entertainment is just plain cruel. I think if you're going to torture a living thing if, you're going to make it look into the eyes of its maker, face its own puny little place in the universe, then, for God's sake, have the decency to eat it! Fritz: What took you so long?
{I LOVE this movie...So good...If you have not seen it GO watch it!!!! And you should know by now that all the movies I post I recommend!}
