Weekend Update
Friday I had a wonderful girls night with Samantha, Natalie, Jessica, Amanda, Suzi, and Katie. It was sure fun. I love getting together with those girls. And I loved being able to hold baby Preston. Oh he is precious.
Saturday I slept in. I read a lot of 'Half Broke Horses'. I took time getting ready. And then Amanda and I went to dinner and a movie. We saw 'When in Rome' {I'd give it a C. It was okay. Not great. But Josh Duhamel is sure a cutey!}
I had a fairly good weekend. It was nice to chill and relax. This coming weekend is gonna be a bit crazy.
Hope you all had a wonderful weekend....and Happy Monday!

a theory & a {dramatic} story
I have a theory.
When I share with someone {be it my mom, my sister(s) or girlfriends} about a crush I have,
that act of sharing jinxes any possible hope for anything to happen with said crush.
Anyone else have a problem with this?
Because it might just be me, I’m sure.
{So… everything I told Amanda last night has been jinxed..yes yay me.}
However, I am sharing this story {because I know you want to know} and because I already know there is no possible chance of anything happening with said fellow. He is, well, just too good to be true. You know tall, dark, handsome, beautiful smile, amazing eyes {oh those eyes} and those lips…okay, okay…back to the story. Lets name him ‘Hot Institute Boy’…or HIB for short, {good? good? I have to make sure that acronym doesn’t stand for anything inappropriate… I don’t think it does, so moving on}.
The following is a true account. {Not dramatized at all}
We first met a few years ago. Kelly and I were in the same institute class with HIB. And this is what happened. I was sitting on an aisle seat. HIB was sitting across the aisle. So we had say no more than 2 feet between us. After singing the opening song ‘random institute person’ got up to say prayer. I closed my hymn book, and a paper I had on the desk flew to the ground. I attempt to get said paper but the prayer starts. So at end of prayer I realize to get paper I have to get out of my seat. Not a crucial paper I decide to get it when class is over. No biggie. Well HIB gets said paper for me. How nice, yes. {that’s not what matters, its coming}…{please read the following slowly and in a dramatic tone} as he leans in to hand me said paper, he smiles that smile, and we connect {eye contact} um for say somewhere around 10 minutes. {okay okay… it was probably more like 3 seconds maybe 5} but it felt like 10 minutes. {He may have well just taken my heart right then.} I sit up. Think to self, hmm that was interesting. Then wondering if I am crazy and imagined it I look at Kelly. She confirms, I wasn’t crazy that did just happen. {well not the 10 minutes part}. We made eye contact many a times that semester.
{okay, on a side note… What do you all think of eye contact? Overrated? I personally LOVE it. It means something to me. Probably not to the other person but it means something to me. Okay back to the story. I know its intense, you’re on the edge of your seat.}
I never talked to HIB that entire semester. I attempted too, I tried to get the courage. {You can imagine my difficulty approaching this perfect guy in all my personal awkwardness} Anyways. I remember the last day of institute that semester. Kelly and I casually waited in the foyer. You know not being obvious, but obviously completely obvious at the same time. Waiting for the right moment. A girl asked him out on a date while we were waiting. I couldn’t handle it. We left.
{Another side note. Girls approach HIB like a light attracts bugs {no I am not referring to those girls as bugs, not at all} … But I really think he is shy. He doesn’t do the approaching. He is always approached. {How difficult that must be…pshh}. But I really get the sense that he is more reserved.}
For months after institute maybe even a year or so okay even now…I always said how much I regretted that I did not talk to him. {Kelly has heard me say so many time how much I regret that}
Okay so fast forward to last night….. Amanda and I went to an institute specifically for 24 and older {and whoever thought of this, genius} There were tons of people. We congregated to the gym for socializing afterward. {that’s the whole reason some people go} and we are talking to a few people who we knew who approached us. {Because I am still trying to learn how to approach people.} And guess what….standing no more than 4 feet in front of me…HIB! Yup, he was there and I was shocked! I immediately pointed him out to Amanda, and relayed my past experience with HIB. {I am completely surprised that he is still single. How could he be? Still doesn’t make sense.} Anywho, I was probably staring at him the whole time. Okay not really, I made an effort to not be an obvious weirdo girl. Because he would have no idea who I am. I don’t look the same. {Well unless he fell in love with me at that moment 3 or so years ago, and was always meaning to talk to me like I him, and has been searching for me ever since…haha}
But oh that brightened my night. Now…I don’t want to have the same regret I had so long ago. So. I am determined to talk to him. And since I know it’s purely for my satisfaction of taking care of said past regret maybe it will be easier. Because I know there’s no chance for anything else. Now the big problem is getting those bugs girls away from him…hmm….
{sorry its so long}

a unique birthday
We would go visit, frequently when I was younger.
I remember helping my grandma make something in the kitchen.
I can’t even think of how old I was at the time. I know I was younger than 8.
But I remember this pot she had.
It was sadly looking.
A handle broken. And so old.
I remember just feeling so badly for it.
And I remember wondering “do pots have birthdays?”
{I have no idea why I thought this, the mind of a child}
But my grandma and I threw a birthday party for that Pot.
I think we even baked it a cake.
And every time I see that pot I think of that day we threw it a birthday party.
I cherish that memory!
{Thanks Grandma for making that happen}
{edit: i changed the title. i got a comment from a bloggy friend pointing out the obvious of the previous title "the birthday pot" well...i dont want people coming her looking for that other kind of pot. they would be sorely disappointed.}

Weekend Update
Over and done with.
And Monday is almost over with.
Which means that we are that much closer to Friday right.
So on with the weekend.
Friday was still super rainy. I finally went with my future SIL to Cheesecake Factory {she had never been, horrible, I know}. I got my usual. Orange Chicken. And I picked up my book for the Slow Readers Book Club. {It is interesting. Not a book I would normally pick up. Which I like}.
Saturday was a slow day. Nothing going on till the evening. So I took my time getting ready. {Its nice to do that when during the week for work I am quite speedy so I can get as much sleep as I can.} I went to my cousin's graduation/birthday party. It was nice to see family!
Sunday was ward conference. And then I went to a Fireside and met couple new people. It was nice.
But still not ready for Monday to come. That's okay now right, its over. Almost.
I hope you all had a LOVELY weekend!!!!

7 things

The wonderful Belen passed along this here award…I am supposed to come up with 7 things about me to share…hmm…and I have been having a hard time coming up with ones that you all don’t already know. I have had this saved and have been working on coming up with things all week. But I am determined to get this up before I forget…so….sorry if you know some of these already….
1. If SpongeBob is on I am {probably} watching it. Patrick Star is my favorite. I love him. I used to have a big Patrick stuffed pillow thing. {okay I still have it, it’s out in the garage somewhere I think}. My favorite episode is the one where SpongeBob loses his identity. Hilarious!
2. I love to play volleyball. I played in junior high. I was going through tryouts in High School and there was a miscommunication when the last tryout was. I missed it. My biggest regret of High School is not following through and continuing with volleyball.
3. I have like 5 books that I should be reading. And it’s overwhelming. So I haven’t been reading. The books are just on my shelf staring at me. Taunting me. Mocking me. I’ll get around to it. Promise.
4. You know I LOVE Pride and Prejudice. The book. The movie. I got the 5 hour version, with Collin Firth, a few years ago for Christmas. I still haven’t watched it. Partly because I want to watch it all at once. And I can’t find 5 hours to just watch it. But I want to. Maybe I need to have a P&P party with the girls. {Sam let’s do that!}
5. I like odd numbers.
6. I was called to go to girls camp. I am the Stake Staff Cabin Mom. Funny huh? I am excited. I think they like to call the youngest {well I am sure there are younger} person to be the cabin mom. I am really looking forward to it. Mainly because my Mommy is going. I actually was the cabin mom for them once before when I was the crafts assistant. And because I was the youngest one they nominated me to be in charge. This time its its own calling. {I will say that I am nervous about the skunks…that’s a whole other story.}
7. One of the most impressive {and earns big brownie points} in my eyes is when a guy knows what he wants to do {career/education wise}. That he is going to school and knows what he wants to go to school for. HUGE plus. I see that as a sign of maturity.
okay....the end

Movie Quote Friday!
Anne Shirley: My life is a perfect graveyard of buried hopes. That's a sentence I read once and I say it over to comfort myself in these times that try the soul.
______________________________________________________
Aunt Josephine: Make a little room in your plans for romance again, Anne, girl. All the degrees and scholarships in the world can't make up for the lack of it.
______________________________________________________
Mrs. Cadbury: Tell me what you know about yourself.
Anne Shirley: Well, it really isn't worth telling, Mrs. Cadbury... but if you let me tell you what I IMAGINE about myself you'd find it a lot more interesting.
Anne Shirley: Can't you even IMAGINE you're in the depths of despair?Marilla Cuthbert: No I cannot. To despair is to turn your back on God.
____________________________________________________
Anne Shirley: Mrs. Hammond told me that God made my hair red on purpose and I've never cared for Him since.
Anne Shirley: Tomorrow is always fresh with no mistakes in it._______________________________________________
Anne Shirley: I know I chatter on far too much... but if you only knew how many things I want to say and don't. Give me SOME credit.
Anne Shirley: Ruby Gillis says when she grows up, she wants to have a line of beaus on a string and make them crazy for her. I'd rather have ONE in his rightful mind. {Anne I absolutely agree}__________________________________________________________
Aunt Josephine: I like people who make me like them. Saves me so much trouble forcing myself to like them.
Aunt Josephine: Wealth can be very empty when you don't have someone to share it with. But by the time I realized that, no one would have me... except men who wanted my money more than I did.__________________________________________________________
Anne Shirley: And I promise I'll never do it again. That's the one good thing about me. I never do the same wrong thing twice.
Gilbert Blythe: Psst! Carrots! Carrots!______________________________________________________
Anne Shirley: Would you please call me Cordelia?
______________________________________________________
Anne Shirley: I've never belonged to anyone!
Anne Shirley: Wilt thou give me a lock of thy jet-black tresses?Diana Barry: I don't have any black dresses!
____________________________________________________
Miss Stacy: True friends are always together in spirit.
{okay....I have seen this movie once. a LONG time ago. I need to watch it again...and I think I would like to read the books again too. Thanks Brittany for the suggestion. Anyone else have a suggestion just let me know. }
{oh and my Dad suggested this ONE....I'll just point you in the right direction in case you would like to check it out...we have sat through it twice. And I don't even know how or why but we did. For some reason they show it on New Year's Eve. At least that was when we caught it. both times. and somehow it just sucks you in like a bad infomercial.}

Confession!
I have never liked the term “best friend”.
I am not entirely sure why.
I am completely okay with others using it…
I {however} always feel uncomfortable using it myself.
There might be a couple reasons:
1. People I would have termed as my “best friends” {in the end} took advantage of me. “Best Friends” don’t do that.
2. I would always feel uncomfortable using that term in front of other friends. Like somehow it hurts them. Like they aren’t good enough to be termed that. {yes, I do worry and think about how things affect other people, when probably they don’t even think of it themselves.}
So I {personally} just don’t use that term.I do have AMAZING friends. Very dear friends, true friends. {Don’t get me wrong there.}
I just don’t like that term.

Weekend Update
Shaylee got a house with her best friend and she moved out Friday. So I wanted to get my room painted and moved around and stuff. I left work early to go pick up my paint {toffee crunch} I saw the color on my cousins blog and fell in love with it. When I was deciding what color to do my mom reminded me of this color. Friday was spent painting...and painting...and moving stuff around...{THANK YOU Mom and Dad for all your help}. And the first part of Saturday was spent finishing up and spray painting a ton of frames and mirrors. I LOVE my room! It still needs a few finishing touches but it has come along way!
So cue a ton of pictures....
hooray it all fit and the right closet is all my clothes. Interesting that that mirror is exactly across from my picture of Christ. How perfect. And for someone who does not like looking at themselves in the mirror I sure have a lot of them. Oh well. Had to put them to use!
And now I am off to a CES broadcast.
I hope you all had a lovely weekend!!!
oh and I joined a book swap {so excited, I love books} and a slow readers book club. Check them out... and thanks Micaela for posting about...and congrats on your engagement...so so happy for you!!!!Thursday, January 7, 2010
Movie Quote Friday!
Partygoer: So Tom, what is it that you do?Tom: I uh, I write greeting cards.
Summer: Tom could be a really great architect if he wanted to be.
Partygoer: That's unusual, I mean, what made you go from one to the other?
Tom: I guess I just figured, why make something disposable like a building when you can make something that last forever, like a greeting card.
________________________________________________________
Tom: What happens when you fall in love?
Summer: You believe in that?
Tom: It's love, it's not Santa Claus.
Tom: It's official. I'm in love with Summer.Tom: I love her smile. I love her hair. I love her knees. I love how she licks her lips before she talks. I love her heart-shaped birthmark on her neck. I love it when she sleeps.
Rachel Hansen: Just because she's likes the same bizzaro crap you do doesn't mean she's your soul mate._________________________________________________________
Tom: [Montage of Summer] I hate her crooked teeth. I hate the way she smacks her lips. I hate her knooby knees. I hate that cockroach shape splotch on her neck.
[Fade to black]
Tom: [Swayze's She's Like the Wind plays briefly] I HATE THIS SONG!
Bus Driver: [Open to Tom standing while bus comes to a sudden stop] Sir, you need to get off the bus.
Rachel Hansen: Better that you find this out now before you come home and find her in bed with Lars from Norway.Tom: Who's Lars from Norway?
Rachel Hansen: He's some guy she met at the gym with Brad Pitt's face and Jesus' abs.
Rachel Hansen: Tom, I know you think she was the one, but I don't. Next time you look back, I think you should look again.
Tom: Look, we don't have to put a label on it. That's fine. I get it. But, you know, I just... I need some consistency.Summer: I know.
Tom: I need to know that you're not gonna wake up in the morning and feel differently.
Summer: And I can't give you that. Nobody can.
Summer: I woke up one morning and I just knew.Tom: Knew what?
Summer: What I was never sure of with you.

Randomness
Speaking of The Biggest Loser…Did you catch it last night? I think right now my favorite is the orange team. The son on the orange team totally pulled at my heartstrings when he was weighing in and tearing up. There also seems to be this theme of Love…and not having it, but wanting it. I can relate.
I feel like that darn mountain is calling my name. Grr... I think I need to have a go at it. Ugh…Blast! Anyone else? {I think that would be a fun date. To hike that mountain at dusk and watch the sun go down and have a picnic overlooking the city lights.}
And I am thinking of the whole asking a guy out on a date thing. I swore after my last experience that I would not ask a guy out on a date. But guys are just not doing it. Really, what’s the worst that could happen? But then again I am not sure I am quite brave enough to do that yet. {My name is Krissa and I have a fear of rejection}
I think crushes are annoying. {Anyone else…no…no…} Let me {try to} explain why. I don’t know about you but when I have a crush on someone I think about it too much. Not that I am trying to either. He is just there. In my mind. And I find I get in my head way too much. Over-analyzing things. And it seems that nothing goes anywhere with it. I get all too concerned that they aren’t interested. I feel like I get all weird. I am to aware of everything going on when I am near him. I feel like people are watching. I need to not care. Is that the trick?
This all seems to be connected. Nice flow huh?
Alright…I am off to the gym…oh joy! {oh look and that brings us right back to the beginning.}

Just a little tip for you!
xoxo,

Weekend Update
This weekend started early for me. As I had a half day on Thursday so I could get a nap in before staying up late for ringing in the New Year. Randon and Callie made the trip from Tucson to ring in the New Year with us. We played games ate some delicious food. Watched them ring in the New Year on TV. We didn't even go outside to welcome the New as we normally do. We stayed up late and chatted and played games. It was great! {And next year I am hoping that I will have someone to kiss}
Friday we slept in...and hung out with Randon and Callie before they left back to Tucson. Friday night was interesting. {Mom, Dad, Ty and I} We were just getting ready to watch Night at the Museum 2...when the power went out. So as we scrambled for lighting {candles, flashlight, the cool lighter app on my phone} we waited for the power to spring back on. As it usually does. We decided to call SRP...it was to come back on at 2 am...mind you it was midnight. So we decided to stay up and play games by candlelight and talk. 2 am came and went. We called again. It was to be turned back on at 11. 11 am people. So we decided to stay up a little longer and then try to get some sleep. The house was so quiet. But I slept great. Thank Heavens that happened now and not in the dead of summer. That would of been killer.
Saturday was a huge cleaning and organizing day. I got ride of a huge bag of clothes and a huge bag of trash. We also went and saw Shaylee's new house {super cute bytheway} and helped her move some stuff in. Finshed off the day with more cleaning and then watching some Food Network and we finally decided to finish Night at the Museum {again}.
Out church time changed today to 2 pm. I dont know about you but I would much rather go to church at 8. I love feeling like I have the whole rest of the day to do stuff. But it was good. Amanda and I kept our same primary class {thank heavens} I love those kids. And tonight we had a nice family dinner and games here at home.
Tomorrow is Monday and I am not sure I am ready for it. I am ready to get back into my normal schedule after the crazy holidays and stuff.
Happy New Year to you all and I hope you have a great Monday!!!
