Movie Quote Friday!

Meet Joe Black

Joe Black: I don't care Bill. I love her.
William Parrish: How perfect for you - to take whatever you want because it pleases you. That's not love.
Joe Black: Then what is it?
William Parrish: Some aimless infatuation which, for the moment, you feel like indulging - it's missing everything that matters.
Joe Black: Which is what?
William Parrish: Trust, responsibility, taking the weight for your choices and feelings, and spending the rest of your life living up to them. And above all, not hurting the object of your love.
Joe Black: So that's what love is according to William Parrish?
William Parrish: Multiply it by infinity, and take it to the depth of forever, and you will still have barely a glimpse of what I'm talking about.
Joe Black: Those were my words.
William Parrish: They're mine now.
William Parrish: I want you to sing with rapture and dance like a dervish. William Parrish: I loved Susan from the moment she was born, and I love her now and every minute in between. And what I dream of is a man who will discover her, and that she will discover a man who will love her, who is worthy of her, who is of this world, this time and has the grace, compassion, and fortitude to walk beside her as she makes her way through this beautiful thing called life.
William Parrish: I want you to know how much I love you, that you've given a meaning to my life that I had no right to expect, that no one can ever take from me.
Susan Parrish: Dad...
William Parrish: No! I love you so much. And I want you to promise me something. I don't want you to ever worry about me. And if anything should happen, I'm gonna be okay. And everything's gonna be all right. And I have no regrets. And I want you to feel the same way.
Susan Parrish: I love you, Daddy.
William Parrish: That's why it's okay.
Susan Parrish: Do you love making love to me?
Joe Black: Yes
Susan Parrish: More than peanut butter?
Joe Black: Yes. Much more.
Quince: You're free! You're free to l - love each other completely, totally. Just no fear. So there's nothing you don't know about each other, and it's okay
______________________________________________________
Joe Black: ...But Allison loves you?
Quince: [Quince nods yes between stifled sobs]
Joe Black: How do you know?
Quince: Because she knows the worst thing about me and it's okay.
Joe Black: What is it? William Parrish: Love is passion, obsession, someone you can't live without. If you don't start with that, what are you going to end up with? Fall head over heels. I say find someone you can love like crazy and who'll love you the same way back. And how do you find him? Forget your head and listen to your heart. I'm not hearing any heart. Run the risk, if you get hurt, you'll come back. Because, the truth is there is no sense living your life without this. To make the journey and not fall deeply in love - well, you haven't lived a life at all. You have to try. Because if you haven't tried, you haven't lived.

{sidenote 1 - you wondering what 'dervish' means??? check here}
{sidenote 2 - this movie quote Friday is brought to you by my brother. he pointed out his favorite definition of love comes from this movie. and i agree. that last quote says it completely.}

Weekend Update

Hooray for a short work week for me. I have Thursday, Friday and then Monday off. 5 day weekend coming up. Hooray!!! Randon and Callie are coming in town and its Tylon’s birthday Saturday. He turns 18. I’m not sure I like it, he is getting old and becoming all adult like.

This weekend was great.

Friday I went to Samantha’s house for a girls night. I love having those. I love just sitting, visiting and chatting with those girls. Suzi and Jessica came. And I was able to play with Ethan and hold Preston. I loved it. Those girls are the best.

Saturday I woke up early to go to the temple. It had been a long time since I had gone and it was so nice to do some family names and just feel the peace that was there. The Broughton’s took us out to breakfast after. Yum! I got home took a nap. Then I went with Bree and Amanda shopping. We went to DSW {finally} and I found a cute pair of Steve Madden heels. We also went to Old Navy where they were having a sale, and additional 50% off their clearance. Yes I did buy a shirt for only $0.47. After shopping we snuck in some Dairy Queen Blizzards to the movies where we saw ‘Remember Me’ I really liked it! I was super impressed with Robert Pattinson. His acting was much better than what I have seen in Twilight. I recommend people to see this movie. {Warning: You will cry!}

Sunday. I wore a dress to church. First time since I was like 15 or something. I had a horrible headache that I still had this morning when I woke up. Last night we watched Post Grad with Alexis Bledel. Super cute!

And now I am hoping these work days will go by fast. I am ready for vacation!

Movie Quote Friday!

Stardust

Narrator: A philosopher once asked, "Are we human because we gaze at the stars, or do we gaze at them because we are human?" Pointless, really... ”Do the stars gaze back?" Now *that's* a question.
Tristan: You know you sort of - glitter sometimes. I've just noticed it. Is it... Is it normal?
Yvaine: Let's see if you can work it out for yourself. What do stars do?
Tristan: Hmm... Attract trouble?
[Yvaine pushes him, amused]
Tristan: [grinning] All right, I'm sorry. Let me... Do I get another guess? Is it: Do they know exactly how to annoy a boy called Tristran Thorn?
[Tristan and Yvaine are imprisoned in the pirate ship]
Yvaine: Tell me about Victoria, then.
Tristan: Well, she... she... There's nothing more to tell you.
Yvaine: The little I know about love is that it's unconditional. It's not something you can buy.
Tristan: Hang on! This wasn't about me buying her love. This was a way for me to prove to her how I felt.
Yvaine: Ah... And what's she doing to prove how she feels about you?
Tristan: Well... Look, Yvaine, you'll understand when you meet her, all right? If we don't get murdered by pirates first.
Yvaine: Mmm... Murdered by pirates. Heart torn out and eaten. Meet Victoria. I can't quite decide which sounds more fun... Guard: Dunstan Thorn, not again!
Tristan: It's Tristan, actually.
Guard: Oh. You do look a bit like your father. And I suppose you intend to cross the wall as well, do you? Well you can forget it - go home!
Tristan: Cross the wall as well as who?
Guard: No one. Nobody.
[Tristan walks to cross the wall]
Guard: Nobody crosses the wall! You know that! Everybody knows that.
Tristan: You know, I know. I understand. Nobody. Well I better head for the old homestead, then.
Guard: Good night, then. Good night, Tristan.
Tristan: Good night.
[Tristan begins to walk away]
Guard: Give my best to your father.
[Tristan turns around and runs to cross the wall like Dunstan had done but the guard stops him and begins to hit him with his wooden cudgel. Tristan ends up on the ground]
Guard: [casually] Off you go. Voice of the stars: [to Tristan as he's sleeping, causing him to see it] Tristan. Tristan. Yvaine is in grave danger. A unicorn came to help her, but now they're heading into a trap. No star is safe in Stormhold. The last one fell 400 years ago and was captured by the same witches who seek Yvaine now. They tricked her, cared for her, and when her heart was once more aglow they cut it from her chest and ate it.
[he jerks awake]
Voice of the stars: There's no time to waste. A coach is coming. By any means possible you must get on it. Run!
[the pirates have just discovered Captain Shakespeare in drag]
Skinny Pirate: What's the problem?
Captain Shakespeare: It's my reputation.
Skinny Pirate: No. No. Don't be silly. Nonsense.
Old Pirate: It's all right, Captain. We always knew you were a whoopsie.
Captain Shakespeare: [whispers] Yvaine... I know what you are.
[Yvaine starts]
Captain Shakespeare: Have no fear, no-one on this vessel will harm you, but there are plenty who would... Your emotions give you away, Yvaine. You must learn to control them. You've been glowing more brightly every day and I think you know why.
Yvaine: Of course I know why I'm glowing. I'm a star! And what the stars do best?
Captain Shakespeare: Well, certainly not the waltz.
[Tristan approaches to dance with Yvaine. When they start to dance, Yvaine begins to glow. While they dance, they stop]
Tristan: Now try.
Yvaine: OK.
[he dances pretty well with her]
Tristan: See?
Yvaine: Very good.
[they keep dancing] Yvaine: You know when I said I knew little about love? That wasn't true. I know a lot about love. I've seen it, centuries and centuries of it, and it was the only thing that made watching your world bearable. All those wars. Pain, lies, hate... It made me want to turn away and never look down again. But when I see the way that mankind loves... You could search to the furthest reaches of the universe and never find anything more beautiful. So yes, I know that love is unconditional. But I also know that it can be unpredictable, unexpected, uncontrollable, unbearable and strangely easy to mistake for loathing, and... What I'm trying to say, Tristan is... I think I love you. Is this love, Tristan? I never imagined I'd know it for myself. My heart... It feels like my chest can barely contain it. Like it's trying to escape because it doesn't belong to me any more. It belongs to you. And if you wanted it, I'd wish for nothing in exchange - no gifts. No goods. No demonstrations of devotion. Nothing but knowing you loved me too. Just your heart, in exchange for mine.

{I did this one for Natalie. I saw that its one of her favorites.}

Randomness

Volleyball season started. I LOVE volleyball. And I love going to watch Ty play!!! Its bittersweet…I love going to the games. But he is also a senior. So after volleyball season there are no more school sporting events to go to. I am kind of bummed about that.

I bought the Glass Castle. {after having read Half Broke Horses}. I have yet to start it.

I want a Girls Night. Like NOW!

I am like the worst journal keeper ever. I always try to be better. I always buy new journals. Thinking if I have a new pretty journal to write in I will be better at it. Well guess what. I am not. So I started typing it. I am much better at it this way. Now I know I lose the authenticity of a handwritten journal but I figured I would find a cute handwritten font and go that route. Keeping a journal is the important part right?

I am thinking of changing the name of my blog. The name you see in the header. Suggestions?

I want to take a mini vacation to California. Maybe just a couple days a weekend...hmm...

And last but not least. Did you see this preview? Holy Heck....got goosebumps?

Weekend Update

Wow...that went by fast. I hate when that happens...

Friday I too a nap and slept for a good 3 hours. Amanda and I then went out to find her a purse. I hit my favorite purse shops and she found one at Target. The last place we went. We then went to see Dear John. {first time for her, second time for me}

Saturday I met up with Samantha for a really belated birthday lunch for her. We went to Applebee's and then went back to her house. I got to hold Ethan and he threw up on me {again}. He does it every time. I just tell myself its because he likes me. I don't mind, really. I then took my Mom out to get a Pedicure. We went to a new place and we did this relaxation pedicure. Oh my. It was heavenly. Best part...the hot stone massage. Hello! We left with cute black tipped toesies.

Sunday I actually curled my hair for church. And I was surprised it stayed curled all day. That was the first time I curled it since I got it cut.

I am ready for this weekend already. How sad is that. Its okay. We are almost there!And Nicole over at my teacups in peony does a foot post every week. Well I must join. I take tons of feet pics. I love them.

Movie Quote Friday! (on Saturday)

{I must begin by apologizing that this was not done on Friday. Sorry Jessica. ;)}

The Time Traveler's Wife

Clare Abshire: I wrote down every time that you came to visit me.
Henry DeTamble: Which I gather I did, or will do, fairly often.
Clare Abshire: The last time that I saw you, I was 18. Seems that you go back to the same places a lot.
Henry DeTamble: Yeah, it's like gravity. Big events pull you in.
Clare Abshire: I was a big event.
Henry DeTamble: So it would seem.
Richard DeTamble: [many years after his wife's death] I still miss her. I miss her every day.
_________________________________________________________
Richard DeTamble: [bitterly] If you traveled back to then, why couldn't you have stopped her from getting into that goddamn car? Clare at Eight: Are you married?
Henry DeTamble: Yes, I am.
Clare at Eight: Is your wife a time traveler?
Henry DeTamble: No. No, thank God.
Clare at Eight: Do you love her?
Henry DeTamble: Yes. Very much. What's wrong?
Clare at Eight: Nothing. I was just hoping you're married to me. Henry DeTamble: Where's Henry?
Clare Abshire: Uh, I left him sleeping. I needed some time away from him.
Henry DeTamble: How's that working out for you? Alba at Nine: Tell me the story of how you and Mama met?
Henry DeTamble: Doesn't she tell you?
Alba at Nine: She does, but not like you do.
Henry DeTamble: Well, it was right here in this meadow. And one fine day, your mom, who's just a tiny little thing, goes out to the clearing, and there's a man there.
Alba at Nine: With no clothes.
Henry DeTamble: Not a stitch on him. And after she gives him the blanket she happens to be carrying, he explains to her that he's a time traveler. Now, for some reason I'll never understand, she believes him.
Alba at Nine: 'Cause it's true. Clare Abshire: I wouldn't change one second of our life together.

{I loved this movie!!!! That last scene kills me every time!}

Randomness

- I should learn to not go to the grocery store after school is out. They are always out there selling those blasted cookies. How can you resist. {Mental note: Go to store before 3 pm}

- I think I may have a really sensitive sniffer. I pick up on smells others don’t. It can be annoying. Especially when my purse has a faint fish smell. No one else smells it. Just me.

- I am going to make these Pom Pom Flowers for a bridal shower. They are cute and look super easy.

- I was asked out on a date through email. He lost my number. I had to say no. I got the email last night, the date is for this evening.

- I signed up for a formspring account. Do you have any questions for me?

- Sometimes things don’t work out the way we thought or the way we planned. But it happens for a reason. It’s important {to me} to stay positive. Being negative just makes things worse.

- I have the greatest friends. Natalie thanks for my "Happy Thursday" text and reminding me to talk to him. That brightened my day!

Happy Friday Eve!

Half Broke Horses

I joined the Slow Readers Book Club a while back and this was the first book we read.
Half Broke Horses.
Its not normally a book I would pick up.
Overall- I liked it.
I will say I had a hard time getting into it.
But around page 30 something I just couldn't put it down.
I would definitely recommend reading it.
Maybe not buying it.
But reading it for sure.
I did enjoy that it took place {for a large part} in Arizona.
The book is about Jeanette's grandmother. Lily.
It is a true life story.
I found Lily to be completely inspiring.
I wish I knew her.

I am now interested in reading some of Jeanette's other work.

Weekend Update

Why do the weekends go by so fast?

Friday I came home from work and I took a nap. It was wonderful. I can’t believe there ever was a time in my life that I did not like naps. The video store by us {Hollywood Video} of which I used to work for 4 years is closing. So my Dad and I went to scope out there selection to add to our library. I then went with Amanda to see Valentine’s Day. I thought it was super cute. I absolutely adore Jennifer Garner. I wish we were real life friends.

Saturday I slept in. It was wonderful! Zach and I went shopping. And then my Mom and I went to meet our friends {Erin & Sheryl} for dinner at JalapeƱos Inferno and then we went to the Parada Del Sol Rodeo. Awesome!!!! What more can you ask for… cute cowboys and funnel cake. It was wonderful.

{Mom and I in our rodeo attire.}{at the rodeo. 2 buffalos and a horse with the cowboy standing on it. crazy!}

We also had some beautiful weather. Cloudy and rainy.

How was your weekend? I hope it was fantastic!
